Although this beautiful city is packed with tourists, we had a chance to experience just a bit of the real Florence from the local’s perspective thanks to a very special Florence native. When doing some research on Florence, I ran into an SBI site called weekend-in-florence.com created by Filippo. In the spirit of my SBI adventure, I dropped Filippo a line suggesting we meet for a quick coffee.

Unfortunately, he replied that he was out of town. But it didn’t end there. A few days later Filippo sends me this detailed and custom-tailored “insider's” itinerary of where to go and what to do to get a feel for the real Florence. I was overwhelmed by this gesture, which proved to me once again why SBIers are a different breed.

Very pleased to meet you, too :-), I had a look at your site, (I LOVE Italy and especially Tuscany. I used to speak Italian, too. It was better than my English. But then I forgot it all...) I love your site, too You have one of the best voices I have seen on any SBI site. So few people seem to get this right, or maybe they are just too shy to be themselves, to inject their personality. Or, the worst, those that think they have to sound "professional" so people will take them seriously...

Tripadvisor non ha bisogno di presentazioni, è senza dubbio uno dei più importanti siti del mondo che parlano di viaggi, ma cosa lo rende tanto speciale ? Fondamentalmente il fatto che i suoi contenuti si basano nella maggior parte dei casi su giudizi espressi da viaggiatori reali, che non avendo peli sulla lingua vi dicono esattamente quanto si sono trovati bene o male in quel determinato ristorante o albergo, un pò come me quindi che non avendo royalties o percentuali da spartire con nessuno vi dico sempre quello che penso.

Sarà un caso se in un forum di Tripadvisor viene citato il mio sito ??

The best way I found out if you are alone was to rent a scooter and go to Chianti. It was great! Thanks again and I will use your trips next time. I went to iI Troja and the steak was fantastic!
